South Carolina coach Dawn Staley shared how she would spend her time if TikTok gets banned in the United States. Staley posted a photo of a Galaga machine on her Instagram on Tuesday.
"How will you spend your time falling asleep when there’s no TikTok?! Me: ☝🏾☝🏾☝🏾🤣🤣🤣", Staley captioned.
Staley made history by becoming the first black head coach to win three national championship titles. In 2021, she signed a historic seven-year contract extension, making her the highest-paid women's basketball coach in the Southeastern Conference and also the highest-paid black coach in women's basketball.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Staley has an estimated net worth of $12 million, and an annual salary of $3 million.
Dawn Staley dicusses South Carolina team potential after win vs Texas
No. 2-ranked South Carolina defeated the No. 5-ranked Texas Longhorns 67-50 on Sunday at Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks are on an 11-game winning streak and seem poised to repeat as champions.
However, Dawn Staley does not believe the team has reached its full potential but admitted that her players are getting better in their performances.
“I mean, I like the fact that we haven’t reached our potential," Staley said after the game, via On3. "Like, we’re still getting better. We’re still getting used to it, and then we have an injury like Ashlyn, and then we’re still formulating who we are, and this league will tell us. This league will tell us who we are. It will define who we are.
“In the successes that we have, the years that we’ve been very successful, we’ve been a great rebounding team, right? That’s one two. We’ve been an efficient field goal shooting team. And we’re not there, you know, as far as the number. You look at the NCAA numbers, and it’s not young, you’re in, 12, and you need to be around one or two, top five in those categories, because they are really good teams out there that’s going to challenge those two areas. And we’re getting better."
Staley highlighted how her team should improve on not giving up a lot of offensive rebounds.
"We’re taking better shots, the rebounding thing, and we have a 20 off into rebounds," Staley said. "I mean, fortunately for us, that toughness and that that will to play through it really helped us. But giving them 20, offensive rebounds will kill you, probably any other night besides today.”
South Carolina (16-1, 4-0 SEC) shot 51.0% while limiting Texas to 27.8%. The Gamecocks average 43.6 rebounds, good for 11th in the NCAA.
Meanwhile, South Carolina will look to continue its momentum on the road against No. 18-ranked Alabama on Friday.
