Dawn Staley had a special message to look back on her year and for the fans to transition to 2025 in high spirits. The $12 million-worth (as per Celebrity Net Worth) South Carolina Gamecocks coach said she had no unfulfilled desires from the past year. Moreover, for 2025, Staley is embracing a more gratitude-oriented approach, allowing her to practice selflessness and generosity.

"Thank you God for being the provider of all things. 2024 owes me nothing! Let’s give more than take in 2025. Happiest, healthiest, loveliest and godliest New Year!" Staley wrote on X.

Dawn Staley is coming off her biggest championship run in 2024. Her Gamecocks mounted an undefeated record in the 2023-24 season. Not only did they avenge their loss to Iowa from the previous Final Four but they also lifted the program's third NCAA trophy in the last seven years.

Dawn Staley was also part of the Team USA Olympics roster selection committee. The women's basketball team remained undefeated in the global event, marking its eight-straight gold medal run.

Even though the Gamecocks' undefeated run is now broken (Nov. 24 vs UCLA), the program is still one of the top contenders for the NCAA trophy. South Carolina opened its Christmas break with a dominating 93-47 win over Wofford and currently holds the No. 2 spot in women's basketball.

Dawn Staley highlights South Carolina's biggest struggle this season

While the Gamecocks won to open their post-Christmas slate, Dawn Staley believes South Carolina is yet to be its best version this year. With that, the coach highlighted the area her team needs to develop on in the coming games.

Without posing a doubt on her team's abilities, Staley said USC struggles with maintaining offensive consistency. She urged her squad to practice discipline in the quality of their shots.

"I like for us to take good shots, so when we don't take good shots, more than likely they're not going in," she said in the post-game conference on Sunday(1:34). "When we take too many bad shots, it leads to stagnant offense, it leads to us just not having balance and transition."
"I want a balance, I want to be able to shoot the 3 because we're very capable of doing that. And I want us to dominate the paint because we're very capable of doing that and I think we're very capable of doing everything in between, it's just us being disciplined."

Despite dominating the game from the tip-off, Dawn Staley's roster struggled on the offense throughout 40 mins against Wofford. They opened the contest shooting 9-for-23 in the first 10 minutes and shot an efficient 11-for-19 towards the break. A similar pattern was on display in the second half.
