The USC Trojans reached the Elite Eight last season, bouncing back from a first-round elimination the previous season. Much of that had to do with the performance of JuJu Watkins, a five-star and top-ranked overall prospect, in the 2023 recruiting class.
The Trojans have used the transfer portal and recruiting to build a more formidable roster around the First-Team All-American. Let's look at three USC women's basketball players to watch out for next season.
3 USC Trojans women's basketball players to watch out for in 2024-25 season
#1: JuJu Watkins
While the USC Trojans have improved their roster, they will only go as far as JuJu Watkins takes them. Fortunately for Trojans fans, she may be the best player in college basketball.
As a true freshman, she ranked second in the nation in scoring. She averaged 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.6 blocks per game. She shot 40.1% from the field, 31.9% from 3-point range and 85.2% from the free-throw line.
Watkins, who broke the NCAA freshman scoring record, was named a First-Team All-American and National Freshman of the Year. She also took home the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award as the best shooting guard in the nation. She will enter the season among the favorites to be named Player of the Year despite entering just her sophomore season.
#2: Kiki Iriafen
Kiki Iriafen was the highest-ranked transfer available this offseason. She decided to join the USC Trojans, teaming with JuJu Watkins to form one of the most formidable one-two punches in women's college basketball. She spent the previous three seasons as a member of the Stanford Cardinal, breaking out in a major way after being named a starter in 2023-24.
Iriafen averaged 19.4 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 2.3 apg, 0.6 spg and 0.6 bpg in 27.8 minutes while shooting 54.6% from the field and 77.3% from the free-throw line. She was named the Pac-12 Most Improved Player of the Year. She also won the Katrina McClain Award as the best power forward in college basketball.
#3: Rayah Marshall
While the USC Trojans have the top-ranked 2024 recruiting class and added Talia von Oelhoffen via the transfer portal, returning senior Rayah Marshall gets the nod here.
Marshall has averaged a double-double in her two seasons as a starter. In three seasons at the collegiate level, she averaged 11.3 ppg, 9.9 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.3 spg and 2.7 bpg in 27.8 minutes. She shot 41.2% from the field.
