The intense matchup between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Texas Longhorns went down to the wire as the former nabbed the 80-70 OT win. For a moment, senior Olivia Miles gave the Irish a 68-66 lead with two seconds to go by way of an acrobatic layup before Longhorns' Rori Harmon forced the game into extra minutes with two freebies on Dec. 5.

Miles' contested lay-in sparked reactions from spectators everywhere, including three-time WNBA champion Chelsea Gray as she wrote on X:

"Olivia Miles wow!!"

Gray, a 2022 WNBA Finals MVP, lauding the spitfire guard may boost Miles' eventual WNBA draft stock whether or not she plays out her last year of eligibility.

Here are some reactions from fans on Miles' clutch basket.

"I said earlier she has your type vision; the type of passes she be making & the spaces she be fitting them in," one fan said in reply to Gray.
"That Olivia Miles finish was so smooth," another captioned.
"Lmao that’s 100% the number two pick," another responded.

Despite the go-ahead score going for naught, Miles did help her team to the victory in overtime by sinking in two freebies with 39 seconds left to ice the game in favor of Notre Dame, 80-70.

Miles finished with 18 points, six assists, two rebounds, and a steal as more fans took notice of her and co-star Hannah Hidalgo's standout outing.

"I promise you the only place in college basketball this type of Globetrotting is occurring consistently is Notre Dame. Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles are on another level," one user proclaimed.
"Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles are must see TV showtime !!!!," another exclaimed.
"Love ’em both, best backcourt in the country!," a fan expressed.

After the huge victory over Texas, Notre Dame will meet the Syracuse Orange on Sunday, Dec. 8, to try and earn their seventh win of the year.

Miles is currently in her fourth year of college ball, with all four being played at Notre Dame. For the 2024-2025 campaign, she is averaging her highest point tally with 16.7 to go with 6.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.7 steals a game.

The 5-foot-10 standout does have one more year of eligibility in for her, as only time will tell if she'll decide to test her chances at a WNBA roster slot or run it back with combo guard Hannah Hidalgo. Nevertheless, Miles and company hope to bring the Fighting Irish deep into the NCAA postseason this year.
