Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders is close to his daughter, Shelomi Sanders, who played basketball for the Lady Buffs before deciding to enter the transfer portal on April 8.

"Coach Prime" is known for his blunt takes on things and turned the guns on his daughter during an interview with DNVR on Wednesday, questioning the thought process behind her decision to enter the transfer portal.

"(It) was stupid," Sanders said. "You don't enter the portal. You get a team before you enter the portal. You kinda get a team before you enter the portal. You know, that's what I would advise a child. And I know, 'Well it's illegal...' C'mon, man."

Shelomi Sanders committed to Jackson State when her father was the football coach, and her brothers (Shilo and Shedeur Sanders) played under his tutelage. She then followed the whole family to Boulder to play basketball.

Deion Sanders, worth $45 million per Forbes, further highlighted his discomfort with Shelomi moving schools without his approval.

"You've got to understand I'm a real father," Sanders said. "Where I come from, historically, kids follow their parents. The parents don't follow the kids. That doesn't work in my book. That doesn't work where I am from. I am the leader of the family. So, I've been dictating where my kids go. They're not dictating where I go."

Shelomi Sanders has short Colorado career

Shelomi Sanders only played 11 minutes spread across five games for the Buffs, after following Deion Sanders to Colorado from Jackson State, scoring a 3-pointer, registering three rebounds and one steal.

During an interview with AP News last year, she revealed that she did not enjoy the attention her father generated whenever he came to practice and the extraordinary request she made of Deion Sanders.

“I told him to just come to the games and sit with the other parents,” Shelomi said. “I don’t want him coming to practice. I don’t want to say I don’t like the spotlight but I just want to be, like, in a sense, normal.”

Lady Buffs coach J.R. Payne was full of praise for Shelomi in a recent AP interview.

"Shelomi is doing great. Shelomi came in the middle of the year last year, which is always difficult to transfer from one program to another. And the team loved her immediately. She’s got a great personality,” Payne said.

There seems to be a rebellion within the family between Deion Sanders and Shelomi Sanders at the moment, but she is not nicknamed "Bossy" for no reason.
