Divine Bourrage, one of the top recruits in the 2025 class, committed to Kim Mulkey's LSU on Thursday. The Davenport North High School hooper shared the news on Instagram following her visit to Baton Rouge last weekend.
Bourrage was linked with LSU for weeks since she revealed her final six schools in July. The Iowa native chose LSU over Arizona, Baylor, Illinois, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.
Bourrage played for the MAC champion Wildcats, who went undefeated last season. She averaged 19.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 3 steals per game, earning her the Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year award.
Ranked fifth overall by ESPN, Divine Bourrage was selected for the Class 5A All-State team and also made the All-Tournament Team.
Her versatility to play in multiple guard positions and her scoring ability make Bourrage a solid addition to the Lady Tigers’ roster. She is only the third top-10 player to commit to LSU since coach Mulkey took over.
Bourrage joined Bella Hines, both top 25 guards, to commit to LSU this fall. Now, the focus shifts to the other four players LSU is interested in: Aaliyah Chavez, Grace Knox, ZaKiyah Johnson and Ayla McDowell.
Divine Bourrage explains why she decided to join Lady Tigers
LSU first contacted Divine Bourrage in May, and since then, she has met Kim Mulkey several times. These interactions have only made her more confident that Mulkey is the kind of coach she wants to play for.
"Just being a Coach Mulkey fan," Divine said regarding her decision. "I’ve been a fan of hers since she coached DiDi Richards at Baylor. That used to be my dream school until she moved to LSU." [via The Quad-City Times].
"I like how Kim Mulkey is with her players,” she said after her visit. "She’s really loving with them and I feel that’s what a player needs. Then I’m heavy on the family aspect and I think that’s what stood out the most ... so when they hit me up and offered me I almost cried about that."
During her trip to LSU on September 7, Divine Bourrage met with Kim Mulkey, the assistant coaches and the players. She mentioned that the other coaches were similar to Mulkey in their approach.
She also enjoyed spending time with the current players, including Flau'jae Johnson, Aalyah Del Rosario, Jersey Wolfenbarger and Amani Bartlett.
