LSU star gymnast Livvy Dunne announced her return to the Lady Tigers' gymnastics squad for her fifth and final year on Instagram in July. She shared an Instagram video where she talked about her positive experience at LSU and how she had a life-changing journey at Baton Rouge.
She said:
“Dear LSU, these past four years have changed my life. There is something about putting on a purple and gold leotard. There's something about competing in front of 13,000 screaming Tiger fans.”
“There's something about being pushed by your coaches to be your very best. And there's something about being part of a team that made school history. And no matter how many opportunities come my way off the mat, there's just something about LSU. And that's why I'm here to say, I'm not done yet.”
On Wednesday, Dunne shared a series of pictures in a shimmery leotard to mark the start of the fifth year of college gymnastics.
In one picture she's holding a crown. She also had other snaps while posing in different gymnastic positions. The pictures received a lot of attention from her fans, especially from the Miami Hurricanes hooper, Hanna Cavinder, who commented:
"5th year slay"
Like Livvy Dunne, Hanna Cavinder is also set for her fifth and final year of college basketball. With her twin sister Haley, she's returning this season to Miami after taking last year off.
And like Livvy, Hanna Cavinder is also a heavy hitter in the NIL space. She ranks fifth in On3's Women's NIL 100 rankings, with a valuation of $863,000.
Livvy Dunne opened up about difficulties faced by her as a social media star
Dunne has cemented herself as a popular student-athlete with the highest social media following on her social media platforms (5.3m followers on Instagram, 8.1m on TikTok). Additionally, she also has the highest valuation of NIL, $4 million, as per On3 Sports, compared to other women's college athletes.
In an interview with GQ Sports last month, Livvy Dunne opened up about her experience as a social media star and celebrity and all the problems she faced.
"When you're doing something right, there's going to be people trying to tear you down and I don't think people can wrap their heads around a woman being successful in different areas including athletics."
"Since I do social media, they try to degrade my athletic abilities. Most women's sports don't have professional leagues, so it's really important for girls to capitalize on their NIL while they're still in college."
Livvy Dunne ended the last season with nine meets and averaged 9.857 on floor exercises and 9.838 on uneven bars.
