Mikey Williams, a four star combo guard made it into the UCF Knights roster for the upcoming season. He joined the University of Central Florida in January and made his debut this weekend, which has fans absolutely thrilled.
With many new faces joining coach Johnny Dawkins' team including Dior Johnson, JJ Taylor, Jordan Ivy-Curry and Keyshawn Hall, Williams is among the most notable additions as a prospect.
On Sunday, the 6-foot-3 athlete donned the UCF uniform for the first time in an exhibition match against Florida Gulf Coast at Addition Financial Arena.
Slam High School YouTube channel posted a video of Williams showing glimpses of his versatility on the floor.
Fans have been clamoring to get a look at the high profile recruit since he announced his transfer from Memphis earlier this year.
"Mikey bouta go nuts this year 😭😭😭," one fan commented.
"Give Mikey time, he’s coming 🔥," another excited fan said.
"Great to see Mikey playing again. Look forward to watching some games on tv," a Knights fan wrote.
"Dior & Mikey looked good out there!! They still got JJ too but they gon do good!!," one more added.
Meanwhile, some fans agreed that Mikey Williams needs more time to fully adjust and get into top shape before he could potentially become a breakout star.
"Mikey not starting is a huge red flag. Looks like he didn't come in to camp in shape. He's probably going to need a couple of years.," one critic commented.
"Mannnn…. I watched for 5 minutes and never saw Mikey. They knew we wouldn’t watch it if his name wasn’t in the title 🤦🏾♂️ Give him more minutes than that bull**** I just watched," another disgruntled fan wrote.
