LSU Tigers guard Aneesah Morrow posted yet another double-double during her team's 83-77 SEC victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Monday, Jan. 13. With her performance propelling the Kim Mulkey-coached team to their fourth conference win of the 2024-2025 season, the Tigers stay undefeated in their pursuit of national championship glory with a stifling 19-0 overall record.
Morrow, who played all 40 minutes of the fixture, dropped 23 points on 10-out-of-19 field goals made, good for 52.6% overall, a game-high 15 rebounds, an assist and two steals.
Right from the tip, Morrow was working her way on the inside immediately getting a couple of boards. Her first makes would come via Mikaylah Williams feeds, which were capped off by a layup at the 5:18 mark. With more rebounds coming her way, Morrow capitalized on the free throw attempts.
In the second period, the senior was still a beast with securing boards for the Tigers despite her cooling down in the scoring department. At the 2:53 mark, her only score of the quarter was through a lay-in assisted by Flau'jae Johnson. Morrow and the rest of the team would then give everything they could to get ahead but Vanderbilt still kept it close at a 37-all deadlock to end the half.
At the start of the third frame, the game was still pretty much up for grabs for both teams. Aneesah Morrow would then nail back-to-back baskets, resulting in a 44-all tie at the 7:43 mark. She would contribute more markers and caroms from this point forward as both squads exchanged the lead. Fortunately for LSU, however, they would earn a 58-57 advantage heading into the layover period.
With the last 10 minutes of the intense affair, Morrow knew she had to pull out all of the stops for a win by immediately making a five-footer. Late-game heroics from the SEC opponents would show for a balanced fight. However, Morrow's layup with 40 seconds left sealed the deal for LSU (83-77), as they ultimately got their 16th win of the season.
Here are Aneesah Morrow's stats for Monday's victory over Vanderbilt.
