Bryce James, son of LA Lakers superstar Lebron James and brother of NBA cager Bronny James, called out San Antonio's Chris Paul. The Arizona Wildcats commit was featured in a reel by uninterrupted on Instagram, where he named the former NBA All-Star as his 1-on-1 opponent of choice.
"I'd probably say Chris Paul, to be honest," Bryce said.
Bryce, who is in his senior year of high school basketball at Sierra Canyon, announced his commitment to play for the University of Arizona. The 17-year-old swingman is a three-star recruit in the class of 2025 and is the 257th-ranked player in the batch.
As he named the veteran facilitator as his 1-on-1 opponent of choice, there could've been multiple games behind closed doors between Bryce and Paul, considering Bryce's father, LeBron, is deeply connected to the 6-foot future NBA Hall of Famer.
LeBron James was drafted into the NBA in 2003, a year before Paul, and the two NBA legends have gone toe-to-toe against each other for nearly two decades. They have never been teammates despite rumors in the early 2010s that they could have teamed up somewhere.
Nevertheless, James and Paul won Olympic gold together. The pair were a part of the Team USA squads that won the gold for men's basketball in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. Since then, they have stayed as close friends, getting captured sharing a "Banana Boat" ride in the Bahamas that became a popular meme at the time.
Bryce could go up against one of his dad's closest friends if he makes into the league before the 39-year-old Chris Paul retires, having played for 19 NBA seasons.
Bryce James sees Chris Paul as an uncle
Bryce James also shared in the video by Uninterrupted that Chris Paul, along with Miami Heat legend Dwayne Wade, are his closest relationships when it comes to NBA athletes.
For Paul, specifically, the 6-foot-4 Bryce said that he's like an uncle to him as he shared:
"Closest relationship is Chris Paul. That's basically my uncle ... It's helped me just know how to play the game the right way. Chris Paul, just the IQ that he has, he's just helped me elevate his game."
Looking to cap off his final year in high school strong with an outstanding campaign, Bryce James will start his collegiate journey with the Wildcats in the 2025-26 season.
