Arkansas coach John Calipari congratulated Golden State Warriors star Moses Moody on signing a lucrative contract.

The three-time national college coach complimented Moody on X, formerly Twitter, for his new $39 million contract extension with the Warriors.

"Congratulations @mosesmoody on a well deserved extension," John tweeted. "Happy for you and your family and looking forward to keeping up with you this season!"

Moody played one season at Arkansas, where John Calipari now coaches. He averaged 16.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a freshman leading the Razorbacks to the NCAA's Elite Eight. After the season's end, he declared for the NBA draft and was selected 14th overall by Golden State.

Although Moody became an NBA champion in 2022, he has not had consistent playing time in the league. He agreed to a $39 million, three-year deal with the franchise on Sunday.

Calipari praised him last week, following comments from Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who mentioned that Moody is set to have a bigger role this upcoming season.

"I remember how talented Moses Moody was when we played but reading his story about waiting his turn and being prepared for his opportunity tells me even more about the type of person and competitor that he is. Congrats and good luck this season to Moses and I look forward to meeting him at some point," Calipari tweeted last Friday.

John Calipari acknowledges Arkansas fans' excitement for the new season

Arkansas fans will witness a new era of Razorbacks basketball under coach John Calipari, who joined the program this April.

Calipari led Kentucky to the national championship in 2012 and the Razorbacks fans are expecting to see similar results at Arkansas — winning an NCAA title, something they have not experienced in three decades.

"Everywhere I go, people are, 'Coach, can't believe it. We're so happy.' I just don't know when we lose a game or two where that will go," Calipari said on fans enthusiasm. "As excited as people are that I'm here, I'm excited to be here. This is an honor."

The excitement has reached its peak and the University of Arizona anticipates students will camp out overnight for the Oct. 25 exhibition game against Kansas at Bud Walton Arena.

The Razorbacks will start the season on Nov. 6 against Lipscomb at home. They have a tough schedule ahead that includes matchups against Baylor, Illinois, Michigan and Kentucky.
