Hanna Cavinder laid it out in the open to fans as she revealed her struggles with her body image. On Tuesday, the Miami took to her shared Instagram account with her twin, Haley, and shared two photos of herself from a year apart.
In the caption, Cavinder wrote that she has been struggling with body dysmorphia lately and added:
"On the left I was constantly worried about the scale and how skinny I could be, doing so much cardio and putting myself in a caloric deficit that was not sustainable. I also didn’t have a menstrual cycle (our cycle is considered our “5th vital sign”)."
However, Hanna Cavinder revealed that she is on the path to recovery:
"On the right, I am happier in all areas on my life. Just got my menstrual cycle back (1 month ago) and my blood work shows all my hormones in line!! It’s truly all about perspective. I share this because it’s something so many of us can struggle with at one point or another. Sometimes all it takes is zooming out and reminding yourself of how far you’ve come.
"1 year has brought so much growth. it may not be linear, but it gets easier and easier to snap yourself out of it when your body feels safe, and knows you are working with it and no longer against it. 🧚♂️🤍
Georgia quarterback Carson Beck's sister Kylie reacted in the comments and wrote:
"Beautiful inside & out!!"
Carson Beck and Hanna Cavinder went public with their relationship in July. The two and their families have been supportive of each other with regular shout-outs on social media.
Hanna Cavinder makes her return to Miami
After a year's break, Hanna Cavinder has returned to college basketball. She played against Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Sunday in an exhibition match. Miami won 89-30 and Hanna finished with 12 points.
Fans of Miami, along with the players and the staff, are excited for the Cavinder twins' return. During their previous stint with the Hurricanes during the 2022-23 season, they led Miami on a historic Elite Eight run. Coach Tricia Cullop praised the twins, revealing that she is hoping for a similar run this time.
“They both are so talented, have great work ethic, they have a great history here," Cullop said. "I’m thrilled to have both of them back. They were both part of the Elite Eight experience, and that’s a goal for us."
The Miami Hurricanes will begin their season on Monday against Stetson Hatters.
