Seth Davis has established himself as one of the top analysts of college basketball in the last three decades. Earlier today, the renowned NCAA analyst revealed he will embark on a new journey by launching a new start-up media company.
Davis' new venture, titled Hoops HQ, will be a website that focuses solely on college basketball. During his exclusive interview on the "Tuned In" podcast, Davis revealed how he will bank on his immense experience in college basketball to try and change the landscape of the media coverage of the sport (via FrontOfficeSports.com):
"I’ve been doing this for 30 years," Davis said. "I have a lot of relationships. The people I don’t know are hopefully familiar with my work.
"We’re not click-baiting; we’re not aggregating. We’re going straight to the news-makers — and talking to coaches and players and covering games. Doing it the old-fashioned way. Little bit of shoe leather goes a long way," he added.

Davis believes Hoops HQ will be different from other media houses covering college basketball through the access they will give its target audience. He revealed his plans to use his wide network to draw coaches and players to give him exclusive content for his new website.
"Because of my access, I can get coaches on the phone or players on a Zoom and just do a quickie video, that might not warrant an article, but we can put it behind a paywall on the site and also blast it out on social media," Davis said.
"Our social media strategy is going to be elite — because it has to be. We hired the social media editor before we hired the staff writer," he added.
Davis also believes there is untapped potential in providing college basketball coverage throughout the year instead of purely focusing on March Madness:
"There’s 48.5 other weeks where there’s a lot to cover. That’s where Hoops HQ will try to own that space," he said.
Seth Davis' Hoops HQ website will be completely behind a paywall. A reader can purchase a subscription at $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year.
Seth Davis has been at the forefront of college basketball coverage, working for Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports in the past to analyze various games, particularly during March Madness. He will kickstart his Hoops venture on Oct. 28, adding another feather to his cap.
