South Carolina star MiLaysia Fulwiley had the crowd inside Colonial Life Arena on their feet after she knocked down a shot late in the first quarter of Sunday's clash between the Gamecocks and Texas. The highly anticipated game ended with a South Carolina victory 67-50.

With the Gamecocks leading 14-7 and two minutes left in the first quarter, Fulwiley raced down the court in transition, received a pass from Chloe Kitts near the half-court line and proceeded to weave her way through a Texas defender before finishing with a smooth up-and-under layup.

NCAA March Madness posted a clip of the play on Instagram.

"[MiLaysia Fulwiley] doing what she does best 🧈😎," the caption read.

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley heaps praise on MiLaysia Fulwiley's defense

In addition to MiLaysia Fulwiley's electric offense, South Carolina coach Dawn Staley was impressed with the sophomore guard's defensive effort.

"When Lay's locked in, she impacts it on both sides of the basketball," Staley said postgame. "I think I would like for her to really understand her power from a defensive standpoint."
"So we’re always encouraging her ... I think she’s finally understanding her power on both sides of the basketball, and I hope she’s consistently getting the stat."

Fulwiley came off the bench to finish the game with 8 points and 4 rebounds in 21 minutes of action. She also made three steals — tied for her season best — during the victory.

The 5-foot-10 Columbia, S.C. native is proving to be a valuable player for the Gamecocks as they continue their pursuit of another national championship. Although she has yet to make a single start, her ability to impact the game makes her a key piece of South Carolina's rotation.

With the win over No. 5 Longhorns, the No.2 Gamecocks improved to 16-1 overall and 4-0 in SEC play.
