When Flau'jae Johnson discussed her WNBA draft future
LSU Tigers guard Flau'jae Johnson has elevated her game to new heights this season, averaging 20.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and shooting 49.3%, following a strong performance last year. Johnson’s stellar play sparked conversations about her future in November.
As a junior eligible for the 2024 WNBA draft, fans were eager to know whether she would declare for the WNBA or return to LSU for her senior season. Johnson addressed these questions on an episode of her podcast, "Best of Both Worlds with Flau'jae."
"Actually, I have a secret, and I guess the best time to put it out would be now, on my podcast," Johnson said, pausing for dramatic effect before breaking into laughter and saying, "I'm just playing.
“Everybody keeps asking me. Just give it time, bro. Give it time. I’m just having fun right now, playing some of my best basketball. But I keep seeing on Twitter, everybody’s asking. It’s up in the air right now.”
Johnson acknowledged her eligibility for the WNBA draft but emphasized that she’s taking things one step at a time.
"If you don’t know, I am eligible for the [WNBA] draft this year," Johnson said. "I’m kind of just letting God guide me. Whenever I feel that push or [feel that] it’s time, then it’s time. But nah, I really don’t know. I’m just hooping right now."
While Johnson remains undecided, she expressed gratitude for being in the conversation about the draft, acknowledging the significance of such recognition. However, she admitted that transitioning to the professional level would be a major adjustment whenever that moment arrives.
