John Calipari is one happy coach after three of his former Kentucky Wildcats players - Bam Adebayo, Anthony Davis and Devin Booker - won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The trio were a part of Team USA which defeated France 98-87 on Saturday to win their fifth straight gold.
Coach Calipari congratulated the team on X and gave his breakdown of the game, highlighting Booker's pass.
"Congratulations @usabasketball on another Gold medal!! What an amazing finish. Amazing to see an ultra talented team sacrifice for each other. Next man up attitude with a bench totally into it! Incredible for every young player to see! Booker assist to Curry for the Dagger!!," Calipari wrote.
A proud John Calipari even tweeted a picture from the medal ceremony capturing his former players realising that they are now Olympic gold medalists.
"So proud of Book, AD and Bam. Watching them during the anthem was an unbelievable feeling. True winners!!," he added.
Anthony Davis played just one season in Kentucky under John Calipari and won the 2012 NCAA championship. Devin Booker and Bam Adebayo were also one-and-done prospects who played in the 2014-15 and 2016-17 seasons respectively.
Other former Calipari players in the Olympics were Jamal Murray, Tre Lyles and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who played for Team Canada along with Wenyen Gabriel who represented South Sudan.

While Reed Sheppard, Rob Dillingham, Antonio Reeves and Justin Edwards successfully signed with NBA teams, there was one former Kentucky player, Tre Mitchell who was still unsigned. On Friday, John Calipari shared the happy news of the center signing with Basketball Löwen Braunschweig, a German club.
"Tre Mitchell signed a contract to play in Germany. I’m looking forward to following his career and see where it takes him!!! Go do what you do Tre!!!," Calipari wrote on X.
Mitchell played just one season with Calipari and the Wildcats. He averaged 10.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 blocks while shooting 48.4% from the field.
While John Calipari remembers his former players, he is also training the next generation of NBA prospects in Fayetteville. Having joined as the Arkansas Razorbacks coach in April, the pressure is on the Hall of Fame coach to work his magic and help the team bring home more victories.
