Flau'jae Johnson's mother, Kia Brooks, often shared videos of the LSU guard's interaction with fans before and after the game. No matter if the Tigers win or lose, this is an important part of Johnson's routine, taking after the example of NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

On Monday, Brooks posted a video on Instagram capturing Johnson signing her fan's jerseys before Sunday's Texas A&M game.

“The brand only gets bigger. Hate just brings more love,” the $1.5 million NIL-valued (per On3) guard's mother wrote on the video.

In the caption of the post, Brooks further added:

"When your heart is pure and you give out good genuine energy ,the universe will always return it. Big thanks to all the fans and the supporters that travel near and far w appreciate you.
"Remember, when on your journey through the ups and downs ,wins and losses you always inspire someone along the way. 🥹The love my kid gets is so heart warming !!"

Flau'jae Johnson and the controversy after the South Carolina loss

This post comes in light of the incident after the loss to South Carolina. On Friday, the LSU Tigers played their biggest game of the season against Dawn Staley's Gamecocks and lost 66-56.

After the game, South Carolina's DJ played an instrumental version of “Cut Friends,” a song recorded by Flau'jae Johnson’s father, Jason Johnson, known by his stage name, Camoflauge. The rapper was murdered just a few months before the LSU guard was born in 2003.

A fan on Instagram pointed out that playing a song by the rapper was crazy. DJ T.O. replied to the story, writing :

“my bad 😂."

Flau’jae Johnson then reposted the story on X and wrote:

"I’ll take my L on the chin, but this just nasty behavior. Nun funny bout that."

After Johnson's post, the South Carolina Athletics Department apologized to LSU, the guard and her family with a statement on X. They added that conference rivalries and fan bases should only serve to enhance the sports and not target a player personally.

"We regret that it came to that in our venue after a game that saw both teams capture the level of national attention that women’s basketball has earned, and we apologize to Flau'Jae, her family and LSU," they wrote.

The post also included that the DJ was suspended for the next home game and that she would be educated about their role.
