Long-time radio host and the new Green Bay basketball coach, Doug Gottlieb, is gearing up for the next college sports season. On Monday, the Wisconsin Athletics announced that they will sell beer, wine, and pre-packaged alcoholic beverages for the upcoming season. It will be for the general seating areas at Camp Randall Stadium and the Field House.

Reacting to the news on X, Doug Gottlieb tweeted:

"Bringing sand to the beach!!"

The University of Wisconsin–Madison is now the 16th school in the Big Ten conference to allow the sale of alcohol in the football stadium. It does come with its own set of rules, like only two drinks at a time per person and ID verification for anyone who appears above the age of 40.

Doug Gottlieb prepares for his debut as a coach while maintaining his host role

It is not common for college coaches to maintain a second career. But Doug Gottlieb is breaking the mold and is set to keep his job as the host of his talk show while working as a coach for Green Bay.

"In terms of the mental gymnastics of doing it, I know I can do it," Gottlieb said (via ESPN). "I just have to prove I can do it. It's not a forever, forever with the radio show. It's a 'let's see how it works.'"
"I want to use that platform as a promotional tool, just like Fox Sports is going to use my platform as a basketball coach as their promotional platform. That's how it all can work together," he added.

'The Doug Gottlieb Show' airs five days a week, and his continued employment helped Green Bay contract him at a reasonable cost. He signed a five-year contract and is expected to earn $215,000 in his first season. The contract also contained incentives for postseason accomplishments.

Gottlieb played for Notre Dame and the Oklahoma Sooners during his college career. He then went on to have short stints in his international career before turning to broadcasting full-time. With no prior experience as a coach on a high level, fans were doubtful of his hiring.

Gottlieb, however, feels like it is inconsequential when seeing the previous records. He said (via ESPN):

"Steve Kerr had never blown a whistle a day in his life before he took over the Warriors. I think that's worked out OK. Fred Hoiberg coached at his alma mater [Iowa State] after being in the front office in Minnesota for a year. And that worked out OK.
"There's been plenty of nontraditional hires. ... I tell my kids that if somebody's not laughing at your dreams, you're not dreaming big enough."
