Rutgers freshman Dylan Harper posted a carousel of his highlights with the Scarlet Knights on Sunday, December 15. This prompted a four-word reaction from his brother Ron Harper Jr., who encouraged his freshman brother Dylan Harper.
Dylan, a five-star recruit and top 2024 NBA prospect, is making headlines with his standout performances. On his Instagram post, Dylan Harper dropped the caption:
“They told us it was luck until we did it again🤷🏽♂️dem Harper boys different$$,” Harper said.
After the Rutgers freshman posted on Instagram, his brother Ron Harper Jr, who also played for Rutgers, hyped him up in the comment section:
“Uk how it get 🤞🏽,” Harper Jr said.
After his 3-pointer heroics against Seton Hall, Dylan Harper was quick to go down memory lane to talk about Ron Harper Jr's three-pointer against Purdue in 2021.
Dylan Harper has been impressive for Rutgers Scarlet Knights averaging 23.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 52.0% from the floor this season. Harper also leads the Scarlet Knights in points (23.5) and assists (4.4) per game.
Dylan Harper scoops top honors for the third time this season
Dylan Harper was named the NCAA’s March Madness Player of the Week and Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week, his third time earning the Big Ten honor. He set a Rutgers record, surpassing Corey Sanders’ previous total.
Dylan Harper showcased his clutch abilities during Saturday, December 14’s matchup against Seton Hall. With just 6.4 seconds left in a tied game, Harper dribbled up the court and sank a deep three-pointer.
Dylan earned the Joe Calabrese MVP plaque after scoring 18 of his 24 points in a thrilling second-half comeback. It was his ninth 20+ point game this season. Earlier, he led Rutgers to their first conference win over Penn State with a career-first double-double: 24 points, 12 rebounds (a career-high), and 5 assists.
This is not the first time Harper has received awards for his performances. He was named Freshman of the Week twice in the last three weeks after standout performances, including an overtime win against Notre Dame and strong games against No. 9 Alabama, No. 20 Texas A&M, and Kennesaw State.
With a record of 7- 4 this season, Harper and the Scarlet Knights are gearing up for their next challenge. Rutgers will take on Princeton on Saturday (Dec. 21), as they aim to build on their recent success.
