The Iowa Hawkeyes have become a team that many girls would want to play for. This is all because of the work that Caitlin Clark did while she was with the program.

The Hawkeyes held a basketball camp for young girls. Led by coach Jan Jensen, the young students were taught basketball skills from some of the program's top coaches.

The camp culminated in a party, which included an appearance from a very special guest. Jensen posted a story about it on Instagram, writing:

Clark could not be there in person, as she is currently playing with the Indiana Fever in the WNBA. But she did appear via FaceTime to be with the young players, who likely look up to her.

The camps are a way in which the Iowa Hawkeyes are spreading the sport of basketball to the next generation.

Caitlin Clark in the WNBA so far

While Caitlin Clark had a college career that will go down in history as one of the best, ever since she has left Iowa, things have not been going all that well for Clark. She's in her rookie season in the WNBA with the Fever and has had mixed fortunes with her new team.

She has scored 16.9 points per game on average and has recorded an average of 6.2 assists a game after 16 games into the season. Caitlin Clark leads the Fever in those metrics, but those figures are a long way behind the numbers she was putting up in college.

This is to be expected. While at Iowa, Clark was part of an incredibly strong team, where she was easily able to overpower her opponents, allowing her to score abundantly. However, the talent in the WNBA is much higher than in college, as each team is of fairly equal strength, meaning that Clark is facing opposition of a similar quality to herself.

But Clark's performances are improving, as welll as that of the Fever. They have won their last three games, in which Clark was a key part. If she continues like this, the season might be saved for the Fever.
