Hoops world goes wild over 2024 basketball viewership rankings

The basketball world reacted after the top 10 basketball viewership rankings were released. In the CBK Report top-10 rankings, the most watched college basketball game was the 2024 women's championship game between Iowa and South Carolina.

Iowa was a TV ratings monster this past season due to Caitlin Clark. To no surprise, the national championship game was the most-watched college basketball contest this season, but to some surprise, it was the most-watched basketball game this year.

After the report came out that Iowa vs. South Carolina was the most-watched basketball game this year, the hoops world reacted to it.

"Caitlin freaking Clark!," a fan wrote.
"the caitlin clark affect," another fan added.

Other fans, meanwhile, think this proves that college basketball is better than the NBA.

"Been saying this for years, real hoops is and always will be at the college level," another fan wrote.
"That's a terrible look for the NBA," a fan added.

Users continued to praise Clark for how much she impacted women's basketball while she was at Iowa.

"I noticed something similar in all the women’s games listed," a fan wrote.
"CC OWNS BASKETBALL THIS YEAR," a fan wrote.

Out of the top 10 most watched basketball games, Caitlin Clark and Iowa were responsible for three of them, and all three were in the top six.

Also, out of the top 10, seven games were college basketball, which shows how big the sport is, especially when March Madness is on.

Caitlin Clark is bringing TV ratings to WNBA

Not only did Caitlin Clark bring in more views for college basketball, but she has helped the WNBA get more ratings.

In the Indiana Fever's last game against the Chicago Sky, which was billed as a Clark vs. Angel Reese contest, CBS Sports reported 2.25 million average viewers. That is the most-watched WNBA game in 23 years.

There is no question Clark has proven to be a needle-mover on TV and in the arena. The Indiana Fever is leading the WNBA in attendance, with an average of 16,683 fans, according to IndyStar.

In the WNBA, Clark is averaging 16.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 32.8% from 3.
