Fans urged to include South Carolina's Raven Johnson as B/R W Sports questioned fans about the best point guard in the current landscape through an Instagram post on Tuesday. The women's sports brand highlighted players like Paige Bueckers, Kiki Rice, Olivia Miles, Rori Harmon, Hailey Van Lith and more alongside their season averages.

Some fans rushed to the comment section to highlight the exclusion of Johnson:

"Yes but add Raven Johnson the the list will be complete," a fan wrote.
"I can’t take this list seriously without Raven Johnson on it. She’s a true point guard in my eyes.," another fan commented.
"I value pgs with defense so Hannah & maybe Raven on a great shooting day," another fan wrote.

More fans joined in, making a case for their favorite point guards:

"Stats… hannah or miles by a lot!" a fan commented.
"Paige is not a pure PG - she‘s the only one on this list who can efficiently play 1-4 (at this level). In terms of pure PG I‘m going with Olivia Miles. They are all sooo tough tho 🔥🔥," another fan wrote.
"On a different note: Amoore prolly the most underrated of the ones shown - she been ballin 🔥," another fan commented.

Raven Johnson will be 2025 WNBA draft ready

The South Carolina guard will turn 22 on March 4 and is officially eligible to enter the 2025 WNBA draft. She was medically red-shirted after the knee injury during her freshman season. However, given her overall stats and this season's averages, it is highly likely that the pass-first point guard will opt into her final year of college.

Before the 2024-25 college basketball season began, Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley said that Raven Johnson needs to start being selfish on the court and focus a little more on scoring.

"I think Raven needs to be a little more selfish and take some more shots," Staley said at the SEC media days in October. (Timestamp: 4:25)
"... If you look at Raven, she is very, very, very unselfish. So, she would much rather pass the basketball. Sometimes when you get in as a point guard, you get in the mode of that, you miss out on some scoring opportunities just to keep the defense honest. So that is the next step for her."

So far, Raven Johnson has failed to build on her previous season's numbers, which was the best stretch of her career. She is currently averaging 5.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.5 steals on 35.0% shooting.
