Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan Anthony chooses his dad as dream teammate in the NBA

Kiyan Anthony, son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, has the potential to follow in his father's footsteps and make a name for himself in basketball. The younger Anthony is currently the No. 1 high school player in New York, per ESPN.

Kiyan was asked which NBA player past or present he would share the court with, and his answer wasn't a surprise as he chose his father, Carmelo. On the "Sloane Knows" podcast this week, he also revealed the dream NBA player he would like to play against.

Besides, when it comes to him and Melo, Kiyan Anthony believes his game is different from his NBA superstar father, despite drawing obvious comparisons.

"It’s big shoes to fill," Kiyan told On3 in July. "I’m not trying to be him exactly, but him passing the torch down to me, it’s pressure but I don’t feel any pressure when I’m on the court.

"All the work I put in, I just show it on the court. It’s a great feeling, him leaning on me and trusting me to fill those shoes and passing the torch. I’m ready for what’s to come."

Carmelo Anthony led Syracuse to its first national championship in 2003 as a freshman. He then declared for the NBA draft and was selected by the Denver Nuggets as the third overall pick.

Kiyan Anthony compares himself to his dad at same age

Kiyan Anthony, 17, who will enter his final year of high school at Long Island Lutheran in Brookville, New York, has been seeing his game come together this AAU season.

During his recent appearance on the "Sloane Knows" podcast, Kiyan drew comparisons with his father and even claimed he is better than his dad was at this age.

"The way we score is kind of similar, like shooting and getting to the basket," Kiyan said. "I looked at his highlights, and I looked at my highlights, and it’ll be like some similarity there.

"I feel like I shoot a little better than him at this age. He was a little bit taller and he got to the basket a little more, so I feel like I could shoot a little better shooter than him."

Kiyan Anthony currently holds offers from six schools: Syracuse, USC, Ohio State, Florida State, Rutgers and Auburn. He paid visits to Syracuse and Florida State last year and has scheduled visits to USC, Rutgers and Ohio State this fall before making his final decision.
