Kiyan Anthony gets hype at home for No. 1 ranking
While enjoying a well-deserved vacation with his mother, La La Anthony, in Tokyo, Japan, Kiyan Anthony was named the No. 1 player in New York in the class of 2025 by ESPN.
This came after a series of stellar displays in various tournaments all year long, including the prestigious Nike EYBL Peach Jam, where he averaged 21.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists for Team Melo.
After the announcement by ESPN, Kiyan received a lot of hype for his new status from celebrities like Russell Wilson's wife, Ciara, and NBA legend Dwyane Wade.
During an appearance on the "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast alongside his famous father, the prospect spoke about how Peach Jam elevated his game.
"I feel like high school is different than AAU 'cause high school I was playing with like two top 10 players and we were like top three in the country, but in AAU I gotta be on my own team and be leading and flourish, so AAU every team you play there's gonna be at least one top-ranked player, so that's how you measure yourself," Anthony said.
Kiyan Anthony said he had cut down the schools that he was considering to six (Florida State, Ohio State, Syracuse, USC, Rutgers and Auburn), and the next step of his career will be choosing the right program to join for his journey to the NBA.
