Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, has waded his way to the forefront of the 2025 prospects class, shooting to No. 40 in ESPN's 100 for the class of 2025. The talented prospect from Long Island Lutheran, New York, has had a stellar showing in the 2024 Nike EYBL tournament.
During an appearance on the "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast, Anthony revealed which matchup he had circled on his calendar during the 2024 Peach Jam. Not surprisingly, it was against LeBron James's youngest son, Bryce James, although it did not go as expected.
"I mean we play SFG, Bryce's (James) team," Anthony said. "They were trying to see me versus Bryce James but they got a top-five player on their team named Brandon Burys, he's from L. A so we played him and he had like 35 but he was guarding me and I had like 20-something and he had like 30 something that's how I knew cause he's top five and we almost beat them and they're one of the best teams."
Anthony and Bryce James share a common history, with their fathers, Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James, being drafted in the 2023 draft class at No. 3 and No. 1, respectively. The two prospects have also somehow ended up in the same class as well.
Kiyan and Bryce teamed up last year during the Las Vegas Big Time Tournament playing for the 'Strive For Greatness 16U' team, where they went up against Cameron and Cayden Boozer of the Nightrydas Elite, who won the 2023 Peach Jam.
Kiyan Anthony narrows down his school selection
After the 2024 Peach Jam, Kiyan Anthony announced the final six schools that he was considering. They were Florida State, USC, Rutgers, Ohio State, Auburn and Carmelo Anthony's former school, Syracuse.
Anthony has undertaken several visits, including to Florida State and Syracuse, where he plans to visit again before making his final decision. Officials from those teams have watched his games consistently throughout the year.
Whichever program he chooses, Kiyan Anthony has shown enough to be taken seriously as a potential one-and-done prospect suitable for the 2025 NBA Draft class.
