Caitlin Clark returned to the Iowa campus during the weekend, reuniting with her former teammates Gabbie Marshall, Kate Martin, Monika Czinano, Jada Gyamfi and more. She also met her college coach, Lisa Bluder, at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena before engaging with the current members of the Hawkeyes roster.
While fans loved every sight of their returning star player, a moment from Clark's stint at the gridiron melted their hearts. During the Hawkeyes' football game against the Northwestern Wildcats, Clark signed the jersey of the game's Kid Captain, Adeline Lovell, and also presented the four-year-old with her two Big Ten tournament championship rings.
Fans immediately stormed Iowa WBB's Instagram post to share their sentiments on the heartwarming interaction:
"Love this! Honorary Captian and the 🐐," a fan wrote.
"Love this! CC is such a humble GOAT! Such a role model!" another fan commented.
"There’s our girl CC #22🖤💛," another fan wrote.
More fans followed suit, highlighting Iowa's culture:
"She will remember that forever 😍," a fan commented.

"Iowa really is the powerhouse of girls !" another fan commented.
The ritual of having a Kid Captain at Iowa Hawkeyes games began in 2009 when the University of Iowa and the Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital collaborated to honor pediatric patients and highlight their unique journeys.
Caitlin Clark’s impact has successfully transitioned from Iowa to WNBA
Clark’s name was the reason the Hawkeyes’ home and road games were always house-full last season. Spectatorship records were also broken as fans tuned in to watch the Iowa guard in the NCAA tournament.
Even though Caitlin Clark’s early WNBA career had its challenges, her name still carried the same level of widespread popularity. Fans eagerly eyed her Indiana Fever jersey during her regular season, leading to a significant rise in WNBA jersey sales.
Clark led the WNBA in jersey sales in the 2024 season. The Fever experienced an incredible 1,193% jump in overall jersey sales, even before they clinched a postseason berth.
According to Fanatics, a WNBA jersey manufacturer and distributor, player-specific jersey sales increased by 1,000% from last year. According to Sports Business Journal, this surge was driven by this year’s draft class, with Clark being the No. 1 pick.
