Quinn Ewers’ decision to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft has given way to plenty of debate. CFB insider RJ Young voiced strong opposition to the Texas QB’s decision.

On "The Number One College Football Show," Young explained why he believes Ewers should have stayed another year in college football.

“The knock on him [Quinn Ewers] right now is that the man has not played a full season of healthy football," Young said (6:20). "I think I thought that was a good reason to return. I also know that you know we're talking about players who might not make as much as first round draft picks as they would have if they played another year football like for instance Carson Beck.
“The QB market is being reset and reset and reset because the 20 million salary cap is what we're going to refer to, now that the schools have to pay all of their athletes, you expect your quarterback to take a large chunk of that," Young continued.
“You know the sheet for the NFL. You are slotted for this value, and this is what they're going to pay, and that value does not get past 4 million I believe after you get past like the 25th selection.”

Despite leading the Longhorns to a Big 12 title, an SEC Championship, and College Football Playoff appearances, Young suggested that Ewers hasn’t fully maximized his potential as a college quarterback.

Ewers exits Texas with a stellar 27-9 record and marquee wins over Alabama and Michigan.

Where can Quinn Ewers end up in the NFL?

Quinn Ewers’ NFL prospects have become a hot topic among football fans, with speculation brewing about where the Longhorns quarterback might land. With the NFL Draft in April, Ewers's skill set and potential make him a tantalizing option for several teams seeking a reliable signal-caller.

The Las Vegas Raiders could be a fascinating destination. With a pressing need at quarterback but missing out on a top-tier pick, Ewers could be the perfect late addition.

Another intriguing fit is the Los Angeles Rams. Matthew Stafford’s future remains uncertain, making Ewers a candidate to learn under coach Sean McVay’s guidance. He would have the luxury of targets like Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua waiting downfield.

Finally, the Cleveland Browns might turn to Quinn Ewers as a long-term solution. Amid instability at the quarterback position, Kevin Stefanski’s system and offensive weapons could provide Ewers with a platform to shine.
