JuJu Watkins has proven herself to be one of the best scorers in women's college basketball. Yet when it comes to chasing the record Caitlin Clark set, it will be difficult, as one analyst explained.
College basketball analyst Robin Lundberg uploaded an episode of "The Robin Lundberg Show" on Thursday, reacting to a recent quote from Watkins that gives praise to the former Iowa Hawkeyes star.
Lundberg addressed Watkins' chase for Clark's NCAA scoring record of 3,951 points. Watkins currently has 1,318 points after 50 appearances with an average of 26.4 points per game, progressing as a sophomore.
Throughout her four-year career, Clark put up 28.4 points per contest, something that Lundberg noted will be a challenge for the USC star.
"If she has a chance to etch her name in the history books like that, she would take it, which is pretty cool to even be in that conversation," Lundberg said.
"Now, I think it's a tough hill for JuJu to climb. I basically did the math on this. She could have some extra games, which is possible, but overall she's going to have to increase her scoring output, she's on pace from her freshman season, but that pace is not going to be there very long, considering her sophomore scoring output and what Clark did as a junior and specifically her senior year.
