South Carolina star Chloe Kitts collaborated with beauty influencer James Charles on his metallic makeup line launch in July 2024. Kitts opened up about the summer experience while speaking with former teammate Olivia Thompson on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-2 forward sat down with Thompson for the latest episode of 'The Coop' podcast where she discussed her career, mental health, and serving as a role model for young female athletes. She also touched on her meeting with Charles, who has a reported net worth of $22 million.
"It's cool to see that when these stars who have nothing to do with basketball kind of try to incorporate sports," Kitts said (10:40). "It was cool to get a message from (James) and just asking if he could fly us out and do our makeup.
"It was really eye-opening because it was like, dang! Now people are realizing how big women's sports is, and they're trying to make it even bigger. So, it's cool to see how he used makeup and sports. It was really nice to meet him, and his house is beautiful. It was fun, it was really fun."
Kitts, her teammate Bree Hall, and several other female athletes were part of Charles' product launch campaign.
Chloe Kitts shares her motivation to be a good role model following her first basketball clinic
Chloe Kitts, an Oviedo, Florida native, returned to her hometown last summer to host a basketball clinic for young girls.
She utilized her off-season break, after winning the national championship with the Gamecocks, to come back to her community and impart her knowledge to the next generation of players.
Chloe Kitts talked about the clinic experience during her appearance on "The Coop" with Olivia Thompson on Wednesday.
"It was really cool to be able to have a clinic. A lot of young girls showed up, and I was super surprised, especially for the first time," the forward said (5:45). "It just really opened my eyes because I am starting to realize that a lot of little girls look up to me.
"I just want to be a good role model for them. I want to continue to have clinics like that and just continue to do that because, when I was younger, I was them."
Chloe Kitts has been a key cog for Dawn Staley's South Carolina team as they work to defend their title this season. She is putting up 9.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while playing just 19.3 minutes per game.
The No. 2 Gamecocks are 16-1 overall and will face No. 19 Alabama (16-2, 3-1 SEC) at Coleman Coliseum on Thursday.
