Colorado freshman, Cody Williams has declared for the 2024 NBA draft. Without a doubt, the guard is one of the standout talents available in the upcoming draft.

Williams, whose elder brother Jalen plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, is one of the best defenders in his class and also has the ability to put up points on the board. He has a 7'1 wingspan, which makes it very difficult for offensive players to get past him.

The decision by the former five-star guard to declare for the NBA Draft has got basketball fans talking. Here are some of the fan reactions:

There are a lot of positive reactions to Cody Williams’ future in the NBA:

“He’s going to be a good NBA player for sure,” a fan wrote.
“Good luck to him,” said another fan.

Others are talking about his future and adaptability to the NBA:

"Cody is on the hunt for a system that'll turn his size into NBA elite status. College hoops are cool, but the real player development happens in the NBA. We're all rooting for you, Cody! Make it big,” a fan wrote.
"Crazy physical tools as an on-ball defender. He shows flashes as a ball handler, playmaker, and shooter. If the offense hits he will be a dynamic two-way player,” another fan commented.

Cody Williams is expected to be a lottery pick.

In a draft class considered by many to be short of elite basketball talents, Cody Williams has proven himself to be one of the best players available.

Williams was once projected to be the first overall pick in 2024 but injuries haven’t aided his draft stock. He has nonetheless shown NBA-standard abilities when he's fully fit. He is projected to be a top-10 pick by ESPN, with NBA teams well aware of his immense talent.

Cody Williams is a versatile two-way player, which is a brilliant asset for the majority of the NBA teams. His brother, Jalen, was also a lottery pick by the Thunders in the 2022 NBA Draft and his brother appears to be entering the league the same way two years later.

Cody Williams College Career Roundup

Cody Williams committed to playing college basketball at Colorado despite offers from LSU and USC among others. His only season in Boulder was blighted by a couple of injuries but he showed his NBA-level potential each time he was on the court representing the Buffaloes.

Williams averaged 13.7 points, 1.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds in his only season with the Buffaloes in 24 games, shooting above 55% from the field. Although these stats are fairly modest, it is believed that he will produce better returns if he's fit and healthy.

Williams was influential in taking Colorado to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021. Although he's leaving big shoes behind to fill, whichever team drafts him this year will definitely have some talent on their hands.
