Talented basketball star Mikey Williams announced his intention to transfer from the Memphis Tigers on Monday night, and by Friday, he had committed to play for the UCF Knights.
The expectation was that he would make his debut for the Tigers, but he abruptly decided to enter the transfer portal on Monday, a move that alienated a portion of the CBB fraternity.
The outgoing message regarding Mikey Williams by the Memphis Tigers was chilly, to say the least.
"We can confirm Mikey Williams has chosen to enter the transfer portal," Memphis said in a statement on Monday. "The University process for him to join the men's basketball program was underway, but Williams elected to explore his options at this time."

Williams has not yet played a single minute of college basketball after a promising high school career alongside prospects like Bronny James.
Examining the controversy around Mikey Williams
Just when he was bound to explode onto the college basketball scene, Williams was involved in an incident at his house in San Diego last year where he allegedly shot at a vehicle containing unidentified persons, damaging the rear window.
Mikey Williams was then arrested and charged with six counts of assault with a firearm, which would have carried a jail sentence of up to 30 years if found guilty, and for a few months, his future looked in jeopardy.
Last month, he pleaded guilty with conditions including completing gun safety courses and attending anger management classes, upon which his felony charge would get downgraded to a misdemeanor charge.
After the ruling last year in November, Williams told the media outside the courthouse about finally being able to play basketball.
"I feel good, brother," Williams said. "All glory to God. I'm just happy that I made it out of this situation. But I'm just excited to get back to the court."
Now for a fresh start, Mikey Williams commits to UCF, who are coming off a thrilling win against No.3 Kansas at the CFE arena.
