Alabama Crimson Tide guard Mark Sears had a rough time producing in bunches during his team's 74-64 upset loss to the Ole Miss Rebels. As the fourth-ranked squad in the nation, Alabama was the favorite to win over the 21st-ranked Ole Miss in their conference matchup. But, it was pesky defense played on key cogs such as Sears that ultimately led to their downfall.

Sears, who is playing in his fifth year of college basketball, dropped 11 points on an abysmal 2-for-8 shooting from the field, as most of his markers came from his 6-of-6 line on the charity stripe. He also contributed four rebounds, five assists, and two stocks (steals plus blocks) in the SEC loss.

Because of his poor showing, fans on X have seemingly turned their back on Sears and are calling him out to improve on the output he had on Tuesday.

"The Mark Sears drives to the paint this game make me want to hang myself from midcourt," one user expressed.
"Nobody moving. Mark sears looks slow. Really, pretty pathetic," another said.
"This ain’t working tonight. Mark Sears out here sucking too…," another user pointed out.
"Mark Sears can’t even touch the net," a user posted.

With the way Sears played on Jan. 14, others are speculating if the veteran senior is entering the "washed" category as he may no longer keep up to a top-level in the conference.

"Mark sears has entered the job portal," one user wrote.
"It’s honestly super telling that Aden Holloway is getting all of these last second possession instead of Mark Sears. Is Mark Sears washed??," another questioned.
"Mark sears is terrible," one user shared.
"Mark Sears, the laziest on the team," a user claimed.

With Alabama suffering their first loss of 2025 conference play and third overall this season, Sears and company will look to bounce back on Saturday, Jan. 18, against the Kentucky Wildcats — vying to return to the win column.

Mark Sears posts lowest scoring output since early December of 2024

Although he had a considerably bad game against the Rebels, Mark Sears has still played outstanding throughout the campaign. The 11 points he produced on Tuesday is the lowest he's had since early December of last year in an 83-81 defeat to the Oregon Ducks.

Since then, Sears has contributed at least 20 points in seven of the next eight fixtures, capping it off with a season-high 27 markers against the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, Jan. 11. This has all resulted into dubs for the championship-seeking Crimson Tide, which is why their fans may be having lofty expectations.

Hopefully, Sears can get back into his scoring groove against the Wildcats on Saturday and beyond.
