Kim Mulkey and the No. 5 LSU Tigers are building their future roster by offering a 2028 class prospect, Sydney Douglas, a spot on their team. The jubilant high school freshman took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to confirm the news.

In her caption, she thanked the top-ranked team (9-0) in the Southeastern Conference.

"Blessed to receive an offer from @LSUwbkb🙏🏽 Thank you to @KimMulkey and @iGREDUS & staff for believing in me!! #GeauxTigers #SydneyBean"

LSU fans in the comments were excited at the prospect of Douglas coming to Baton Rouge and playing for Kim Mulkey.

"Come play for a living legend 🐯🫶🏾," one fan wrote.
"You gotta be up next...the biggest stage awaits...stay dangerous," another commented.
"We don’t rebuild we js reload!!!," a fan wrote.
"She’s a problem too…..🔥🔥," one user commented.
"Let’s Geaux!! 💜💛🐯," a fan wrote.
"Come to the Best!🐅," another wrote.

Sydney Douglas plays for the Ontario Christian High School and Cal Stars EYBL squad. The 6-foot-6 forward also has offers from major programs, including UCLA, Pittsburg, South Carolina, Baylor, USC, California, Alabama and Iowa - who made an offer in May.

After seeing Douglas at the USA Basketball U17 National Team Trials earlier this year, ProspectsNation.com's managing editor Chris Hansen wrote:

"The knock on Douglas has been that she doesn’t want to mix it up inside even though she’s 6-foot-6. Well, she didn’t get that memo for the day. She was versatile but was arguably the most physical inside presence across both of Friday’s sessions."

Sydney Douglas' basketball history and balancing things on and off the court

Sydney Douglas's excellent basketball skills and athleticism are partly thanks to her parents, Rome Douglas and Maylana. While her father played football for the USC Trojans, Sydney's mother was an NCAAW player with the UCLA Bruins.

Maylana Martin led the Bruins to three NCAA Tournament appearances in a row. They had their all-time best, Elite Eight, in 1999. She won Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 1997. Martin was also the only fourth player selected All-Pac-10 for all four seasons.

While Sydney Douglas keeps it serious on the floor, she also likes to goof a little.

“What people might need to know about me is that I’m a fun jokester to be around," Douglas said. "I like to play around with people and friends and keep it bubbly and fun off court. I keep a smile on my face off the court."
"I want to get you and everybody in good vibes. Like the time I put out fake poop on the family toilet for someone to discover, it’s gotcha time! So it’s all in good fun and with a good heart is my intention."

As she continues to navigate high school, Sydney Douglas could receive more offers and will likely decide in a few years.
