The latest AP Top 25 poll came out on Dec. 2, revealing that Dan Hurley and UConn's struggles had them drop down the standings. However, they remain in the rankings. Basketball analyst Jeff Goodman commented on this development with fans following suit.

Before the poll came out, UConn were ranked second in the country. However, three straight losses, to Memphis, Colorado and Dayton, saw the Huskies go down to 25th in the rankings for this week.

This prompted Goodman to come out with his thoughts, wondering why they are still ranked after taking three consecutive losses last week.

"It’s absolutely ludicrous that UConn is still ranked right now," Goodman said.

Fans were quick to respond to Goodman's post, criticizing his comments while explaining why Dan Hurley's squad staying in the AP Top 25 is logical. Here are some of their reactions.

"I don't know why people care. Rankings mean nothing," one fan said.
"Cry more," a fan replied.
"They didn’t want baby Hurley throwing a tantrum," one remarked.

Others commented that UConn's prestige and the history of the program is the reason why they remain in the rankings of the AP Top 25.

"The fact that they’re jumping up and down to be 25 says all you need to know about the prestige of that program," one fan stated.
"Just a respect thing at this point, committee knows UConn will bounce back and most likely go on a run," a fan claimed.
"My guess is the AP realized they under ranked Memphis and also UConn has a tremendous amount of talent and what they need to fix is fixable but very difficult to fix in 3 games in 3 days so they respected a blue blood program," another explained.

Dan Hurley had thoughts on UConn's upcoming contest with Baylor

After the Maui Invitational, Dan Hurley and No. 25 UConn returned to the win column with a 99-45 home victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Nov. 30.

Following the game, Hurley talked about the team's next game against Baylor, who will be ranked going into the matchup. However, Hurley did not seem desperate about having to win that game.

“Our performance in Maui shocked the college basketball world and the sports world, and obviously a lot went on there," Hurley said.
“I don’t think it’s a must-win game in game nine of the season, but it’s an opportunity to play in Gampel (Pavilion), where we play great and are very comfortable, and we know we’re gonna have a great crowd. We also know we’re playing a top-level team, so it’s a big game for us and it’s a big game for them."

Dan Hurley and the No. 25 Huskies will host No. 15 Baylor at the Harry Gampel Pavilion on Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
