It seems like Dan Hurley cannot catch a break during the ongoing Maui Invitational. After a little over 24 hours following UConn's narrow loss to Memphis, Hurley was at it again on the sidelines during the ongoing game between his side and Colorado, making his frustrations evident.
Hurley couldn't contain himself during UConn's game against Colorado, as he resorted to yelling and finger-pointing towards the end of the first half yet again.
Hurley's antics against the Buffaloes continued to draw the ire of college basketball fans, who took to X to express their opinions. Some of them followed up on his technical foul yesterday, calling out the Huskies' head coach for his behavior.
"Dan Hurley to the surprise of no one continues to act like a child on the sideline today #MauiInvitational," said one fan.
"Dan Hurley just likes to complain about everything. It was a clear block but he whines. What a baby," said another.
Another fan added, "Dan Hurley might kill a ref lol."
Another said, "Shockingly, every call is going against dan Hurley again, per Dan Hurley."
Other fans called out his tactics, believing there are bigger issues that Hurley needs to address during the Maui Invitational.
"If Dan Hurley can’t realize that Stewart should be playing over Ross every chance possible by conference play he won’t have a pulse #UConn," said a disgruntled fan.
"Dan Hurley change his style of play when the refs are calling the game tight challenge: IMPOSSIBLE. You can’t play reckless and super aggressive. Adapt. Your team is good enough to play different styles and physicality levels," said another.
Technical foul on Dan Hurley cost UConn dearly against Memphis
During UConn's game with Memphis yesterday, Hurley received a technical foul for his antics after the referees called a foul on top recruit Liam McNeeley. He took the ball out of PJ Carter's hands with 40 seconds to go in overtime and the scores tied 92-92.
While Hurley had to be held back by assistant coach Kimani Young, the technical foul he received hurt his side's chances of winning the game.
The Tigers got two extra free throws on top of the two for McNeeley's foul, with Carter making all four to give them a 96-92 lead. The game ultimately finished 99-97 in the Tigers' favor, as they handed the Huskies their first loss of the season.
