The UConn Huskies are looking to become the first team since John Wooden's UCLA Bruins to win three straight NCAA Tournaments, and coach Dan Hurley is locked in as the school announced Monday that he will remain in Storrs for the foreseeable future.

Per ESPN, the Huskies men's basketball coach agreed to a six-year, $50 million contract that will keep him with the team through the 2029-30 college basketball season.

This contract is a raise from the six-year, $32.1 million deal Dan Hurley signed a year ago. After being reportedly offered a six-year, $70 million contract to make the jump to the NBA and coach LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, it appears that he will stay in the college basketball scene for a while longer.

UConn President Radenka Maric discussed Hurley's impact on the team in the press release announcing the contract.

"Dan Hurley is the best men's basketball coach in the nation and we are delighted that he will continue to call UConn home," Maric said. "In addition to the exceptional progam he has built over a period of years and the extraordinary back-to-back NCAA championships he and his team won, Coach Hurley serves as a critical mentor to our student-athletes."

But what are the details surrounding Dan Hurley's new contract? Let's take a closer look at all we know right now about it.

What does Dan Hurley's new contract look like?

It is important to note that this is a continuation of the contract extension and not an additional six years on top of the extension signed last offseason. Hurley will receive a base salary of $400,000 but will receive $6.375 million in additional money for this upcoming season. There will be performance-based incentives as well, but the specific terms have not been reported on as of this writing.

He will have the base salary increase each year of the six-year contract while also receiving an additional $1 million annual retention bonus in the deal. The agreement now makes Dan Hurley the second highest-paid coach in college basketball as Kansas coach Bill Self's five-year, $53 million contract exceeds his.

The amount of money is seemingly not a problem, as Forbes' Evan Sidery reported that the Kentucky Jayhawks also offered Dan Hurley $11 million annually to join their program, but he refused.
