Dan Hurley wasn't the only one in the family who was hyped about Solo Ball's performance against DePaul on Wednesday. Hurley's wife, Andrea, also praised the UConn sophomore guard on her Instagram story after he registered a career-high in 3-pointers with seven in an 81-68 win over the Blue Demons on New Year's Day.

Ball shot the lights out from deep at WinTrust Arena, knocking down seven of his nine attempts from beyond the arc. He caught fire in the closing stages of the first half, burying four consecutive 3-pointers in the final 3:15 to give No. 11 UConn (11-3, 3-0 Big East) a 43-22 lead at the break.

Ball continued his hot perimeter shooting in the second half, adding three more 3-pointers. He finished with a career-high 22 points, six rebounds and one block. It was the first time in his collegiate career that Ball scored 20 points in a game.

Solo Ball steps up in Liam McNeeley's absence as UConn extends winning streak to seven games

Solo Ball played 34 minutes for the No. 11 UConn Huskies, who finished without star forward Liam McNeeley. The freshman exited with 13:48 remaining in the second half after injuring his right ankle. McNeeley scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds before his departure.

UConn led 53-36 at that stage, but DePaul started to rally after McNeeley's injury scare. The Blue Demons (9-5, 0-3) went on a 13-2 run to cut the Huskies' lead to nine points with 7:58 left in the second period. Ball steadied the ship for UConn, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers to restore the Huskies' 15-point advantage with 3:50 remaining.

Two other starters scored in double figures for the Huskies, who extended their winning streak to seven games. Alex Karaban scored 18 points on 6-for-13 shooting. He also was feeling it from the 3-point area, knocking down four of his eight attempts from beyond the arc.

Samson Johnson stuffed the stat sheet for UConn, recording 10 points, four assists, three rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 25 minutes.
