Dawn Staley claps back at haters amidst backlash for supporting Deion Sanders’ Colorado

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley recently made headlines for her post in support of the Colorado Buffaloes football team. However, some fans were not happy about it.

On Saturday, after Colorado defeated Baylor in Week 4 of the college football season, Staley praised cornerback Travis Hunter and asked for his jersey.

"Hey @CUBuffsFootball ….I need a Travis Hunter jersey asap! I ain’t hard to find! 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you in advance!" Staley wrote on X.

A fan was not pleased with Staley supporting Deion Sanders' Colorado instead of the South Carolina Gamecocks.

"What about @GamecockFB," the fan replied with a GIF.

Staley clapped back at the fan:

"I'm sorry I can’t like but one team in life? Keep clocking my post and I’m sure I’ll tweet about another team next week. I enjoy good games, good players and heck good players!"

Most of Staley's recent posts on X have been about football and she is never shy of praising other athletes and their performances. It also appears that she's becoming a fan of Travis Hunter, who made a game-winning save to help Colorado win against the Bears.

Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson won her third WNBA Most Valuable Player award on Sunday. She became only the second player after Cynthia Cooper-Dyke to win unanimously.

Wilson also won the award in 2020 and 2022.

Her college basketball coach Dawn Staley couldn't be happier as she has been pushing Wilson's case for the award all season long.

"THE UNANIMOUS MVP OF @WNBA BELONGS TO A'ja Wilson Congrats A! Deserving! Earned! And Forced this one! And to the voters I’m proud to say you represented the game well….see yall for @WNBA DPOY soon!," Staley wrote on X.

Wilson is also now part of an elite group that includes Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson who have won three MVP awards.

On Friday, Staley asked those who did not vote for A'ja Wilson as MVP last season to come forward and explain themselves.

"Let’s see if the last season’s 4th place voter reveals herself/himself with a 2nd, 3rd or another 4th place vote this season…..yeah I’m messy. 🤣🤣🤣," Staley posted.

Many thought Wilson should have won the award last year; however, she finished in third place, behind Breanna Stewart and Alyssa Thomas.
