South Carolina Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley is all smiles right now, given the recent success her team has garnered, especially in their 2024 campaign. They are 16-1 overall thus far in the season, with an unbeaten 4-0 record in the SEC conference after their commanding 67-50 drubbing of the Texas Longhorns on Sunday.
With all the signs turning positive right now for Staley, she even took the time to be featured in an Instagram video of $6 million worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth, American rapper Plies. In the 11-second reel, the 54-year-old is seen posing with the musician, who had requested her to "look in the mirror" and say something. She instantly said:
"I'm motherf*****ng pressure."
This sent Plies running around the locker room in stitches before Staley walked off smiling with her tongue out. The hip-hop artist returned and jokingly asked the defending champion coach to walk off as the video concluded.
Fans have since reacted with joy towards Staley's assertion of herself, given the light-hearted nature that the tenured tactician always possesses.
"Coachhhh Staley, don't hurt 'em like that naaaa," one user commented with laughing emojis.
"She is indeed PRESSURE!! Love me some Coach Staley!" one fan expressed.
"Plies pleaseeee. The full lap is insane," ESPN host Ariella Chambers posted with crying and laughing emojis.
Others even questioned Plies' antics throughout the reel, as it was a sudden reaction to Staley's bold statement.
"Who is it behind the camera sounding like another Plies?" another questioned with laughing emojis.
"It's the run off for me," a user shared.
"Big mood. Let 'em know coach," a fan said.
It seems that Dawn Staley is exuding a positive mood and energy in the midst of the current conference play. With the support of known figures like Plies, she is bound to lead the Gamecocks far in the national tournament again come March.
Plies witnessed Dawn Staley and Gamecocks win their 11th straight game
In a post by the South Carolina Gamecocks social media team, Plies was also captured courtside watching the Dawn Staley-coached squad during Sunday's game. With their victory against Texas in hand, the reigning national champions have won their 11th straight game since late November of last year.
Their biggest test was during their unexpected 15-point defeat, 77-62, against a non-conference opponent in the top-ranked UCLA Bruins. Currently ranked No. 2, the Gamecocks are closing in on a potential deep run again in March. Although small, there is still a possibility that they could seek retribution against the Big Ten foe in the playoff if they get matched up against each other.
Nevertheless, Dawn Staley and South Carolina are reaching success this season in their own right, with personalities like Plies coming to support. Who knows which other prominent faces will grace Gamecocks games in the coming weeks? They return to action on Thursday against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
