Shelomi Sanders, daughter of Deion Sanders, shared snippets of her while seated inside the car and having fun trying different facial expressions. Shelomi felt grateful as she shared the post on Instagram.
"Endlessly blessed, forever grateful," she wrote in the caption.
Shelomi entered the transfer portal this year and chose to join the A&M Bulldogs of Alabama under Dawn Thornton's mentorship. Coach Prime was dissatisfied with the decision of her daughter to enter the transfer portal and called it "stupid.".
Shelomi moved from Jackson State to Colorado with her father, who was hired as the coach of the Buffaloes football team.
Shelomi appeared in seven games during her intercollegiate basketball career. At Colorado, she averaged 0.6 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 0.2 steals. She shot 16.7%, including 25% from the 3-point range.
Shelomi is the only basketball kid in the Sanders family. Shilo Sanders and Shedeur Sanders play for the Buffs.
Dawn Thornton thinks Alabama is the perfect place for the ambitions of Shelomi Sanders
As Shelomi Sanders looks forward to resuming her basketball journey at Alabama A&M, she seems to have found a supportive coach. Dawn Thornton, in an interview with Mississippi Clarion Ledge, praised Shelomi's abilities and shared how she will blossom as a player on the program.
“Shelomi is just what we need on 'The Hill.' Not only does she want to make a name for herself, but we also have the platform and the resources for her to do it. She is well-known for her game behind the arc, and I love big guards that can score the ball," Thornton said.
"She has great athleticism and will make it very hard for teams to zone us. Shelomi's commitment and determination will send her potential through the roof.”
Even though Coach Prime was critical of her daughter's decision, Shelomi is finding support from others. Earlier, her mother, Pilar Sanders, stood behind her daughter's decision to move to a new team and shared that her daughter had the courage, confidence, strength, and character to go anywhere.
