Geno Auriemma is known in the college basketball landscape as one of the best coaches and one of the wealthiest, as he has a net worth of $18 million (per Celebrity Net Worth.) He is also regarded for his lighthearted moments with his former players, including WNBA star Diana Taurasi.

Taurasi played for Auriemma and the UConn Huskies from 2000 to 2004, winning three consecutive national championships and multiple player of the year awards. She went on to have a remarkable career in the WNBA and is still playing for the Phoenix Mercury. She has racked up numerous individual accolades while winning three titles in 2007, 2009 and 2014.

Taurasi and Auriemma reunited in an Instagram live interview that was uploaded on YouTube in May 2020. He recalled a picture of Taurasi and her son Leo as he noted her expression in the image.

"I saw that picture that you said you were holding Leo in your lap." Auriemma said (06:04). "The look on your face; did he pee on you or something?"
"That was a year ago," Taurasi said. "A year into it, I still had no clue what I was doing. So I think I'm in the same spot to tell you the truth."

Geno Auriemma, UConn see place in new AP Top 25 poll

It was a great moment for Diana Taurasi to reunite with Geno Auriemma, having played a key role in helping her become the player and person she is today.

This season, Auriemma has led UConn to dominance. They boast a 17-2 record, including an 8-0 start in conference play with an active win streak of seven games.

This has allowed them to have a big presence in the AP Top 25 poll. The Associated Press released the new rankings on Monday and the Huskies are the No. 6-ranked team. They are behind USC and LSU while leading the likes of Texas and Maryland.

UConn is averaging 79.4 points on 51.1% shooting, including 36.6% from beyond the arc, blowing out opponents by a margin of 28.9 points per game. Paige Bueckers leads the way with 19.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.0 steals while Sarah Strong follows suit with 16.9 ppg and 7.9 rpg.

The Huskies will host the Villanova Wildcats at Harry Gampel Pavilion on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
