“Doing the dad thing”: Fans react as Coach Prime surprises “babygirl” Shelomi Sanders in Alabama A&M’s win

Deion Sanders, popularly known as Coach Prime, showed up to Alabama A&M's women's basketball win (54-47) over Alabama State to surprise his youngest daughter, Shelomi Sanders, on Saturday. Coach Prime posted a series of photos on Instagram on Sunday, showing a heartwarming father-and-daughter moment at the game.

"Surprised my Babygirl @shelomisanders yesterday at Alabama A&M! It was epic and they won. The HBCU atmosphere was all that. Dr. Bryant thank u helping me make yesterday happen for my baby! Love all y’all that showed me love. God bless," he wrote.

Coach Prime openly expressed displeasure with Shelomi's decision to leave Colorado for Alabama A&M and called it "stupid." Shelomi said her departure was because of the "bad energy" she experienced at Colorado where she finished last season as a redshirt due to an injury. She played only 11 minutes but has since found "good vibes" at Alabama.

Nonetheless, Prime's visit to her game on Saturday indicates his continued support.

Pilar Sanders, the ex-wife of Deion Sanders, is a big supporter of her children, Shilo, Shedeur and Shelomi Sanders' collegiate careers. Pilar showed up at Alabama A&M Events Center in a custom jacket rocking Alabama A&M colors and her daughter's No. 22 as the Bulldogs took down the Alabama State Hornets 54-47 on Saturday.

The proud mom posted a video on her Instagram story to show off her jacket.

Despite strong support from her parents, Shelomi Sanders struggled in Alabama A&M's second straight win against its in-state rival. The junior guard missed all of her field-goal attempts and finished the game without scoring. She also did not make any rebounds or blocks, but she managed to make an assist and a steal in seven minutes of action.
