The 2024 NBA Draft has just concluded, and Cooper Flagg is already being hyped in one of the most anticipated draft classes in recent times.

But first, the projected No. 1 pick for the 2025 draft has to go through a season of college basketball with the Duke Blue Devils.

Flagg was among the 15 prospects named to the USA Select Team on Friday. They will provide the opposition for the Team USA squad chosen for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

He is the first student-athlete to be named to the Select Team since Marcus Smart (Oklahoma State) and Doug McDermott (Creighton) were chosen in the 2013 Select Team.

Some of the notable stars joining the talented Cooper Flagg in the Select Team are the Charlotte Hornets Brandon Miller and Houston Rockets star Amen Thompson, who were picked No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, in last year's draft.

The Team USA camp will be held in Las Vegas and will be coached by Orlando Magic coach Jamahl Mosley.

Team USA managing director Grant Hill released a statement highlighting the importance of the journey made by members of the Select Team and how it will impact their futures with the team.

"As a former member of the USA Select Team, I know how important and fun this opportunity is for each of these players," Hill said. "There is a tremendous amount of talent on this Select squad with the significant job of helping the 2024 USA Men's National Team as they begin their journey to the Olympics. Each of these athletes will play a role in our preparation as we also develop the national team pipeline for the future."

Cooper Flagg gets Team USA hype from analyst

Cooper Flagg is no stranger to attention, and he has been tabbed as the No. 1 2025 NBA Draft pick for a while now. He will join college basketball the Duke Blue Devils for the 2024-25 season, giving college hoops fans the chance to watch more of him.

During a recent appearance on "NBA Today," popular ESPN analyst Austin Rivers had a big suggestion for Team USA regarding Flagg and the Paris Olympics.

"Grab Cooper Flagg, hell, make him the 12th guy," Rivers said.
"The experience it would give him. You're talking about grooming players for tomorrow and what that experience would do for these young talented players, especially in a draft class where you don't have a lot of star power. Throw the biggest star in there, throw Cooper Flagg in there, it makes sense. Grant Hill is a Dukie, get it done," he added.

With his pick for the Select Team to battle against Team USA, it is clear that Cooper Flagg is already on the fast track for greater things with the national team.
