Duke Blue Devils coach Jon Scheyer shared that Duke freshman Cooper Flagg's finest quality is his consistency. Scheyer praised the Duke star's confidence and opined that its roots lay in the hard work he put in.

NBA draft analyst Jonathan Givony spoke to the Duke coach about the basketball sensation.

"Cooper has been a special guy to coach so far, and to me, the best quality that he has got is the level in which he competes on a daily basis," Scheyer said. "He is the same way every time. He doesn't turn on and off. It is always on. He's had great confidence and he has the confidence because he backs up with work."

While talking to Givony, Flagg shared that he is not motivated by expectations but is focused on the role he can play to make his team win.

But hard work is not the only quality that Flagg has impressed his coach with. Scheyer shared that Flagg has an insatiable curiosity, too, per ESPN:

“He prides himself on knowing the game. He prides himself on picking things up right away. Cooper is a guy you just have to tell once, and then he’s got it. And he’s been open to learning on a daily basis.”

The razor-sharp focus of Cooper Flagg

Flagg's teammates have often talked about his maturity in handling the attention of the fans. Even as a 17-year-old, Flagg has not let fan attention let him distract from his goal. Flagg shared his devotion to the game and his teammates, per CBS17:

“For me, it’s just about playing basketball. I’m excited to get going with our team. We have an incredible group of guys.”

His coach is in awe of his maturity in handling attention, per ESPN:

"I've seen a lot of different seasons, different hype, different expectations. And with Cooper, I don't know if we've ever had a 17-year-old with this much hype and attention. We talk about all the things we can control, and that's what we focus on.

Flagg has won various honors and accolades in a short career span. He has been named Naismith Player of the Year and The Gatorade National Player of the Year. He was also named Mr. Basketball USA.
