In a battle of the two of the top teams in women’s college basketball, the third-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks secured an 81-70 win at home against the eighth-ranked Duke Blue Devils in the SEC/ACC Challenge.

The Gamecocks took an early lead and cruised to the win behind Chloe Kitts' 21 points and 11 rebounds (both game-highs). The Blue Devils (8-2) were unable to get much going as they had some struggles off the bench.

The Gamecocks (8-1) remain undefeated at home this season and have shown the ability to have one person dominate offensively with everyone else chipping in.

Let’s take a closer look at the Duke Blue Devils vs. South Carolina Gamecocks box score to see how everything played out.

Duke vs. South Carolina Game Summary

The Duke Blue Devils were able to play a good brand of basketball on the offensive side of the court but it was just not enough as the team went 30-of-67 (44.8%) overall, 6-of-16 (37.5%) from beyond the arc, and 4-of-7 (57.1%) from the charity stripe.

The team was able to rebound at a great level as the Blue Devils had 33 total rebounds (18 offensive, 15 defensive) to overcome their struggles passing the ball.

Duke had 18 assists and 18 steals. The team was able to force turnovers on the defensive side of things though as they had one block but 12 steals throughout the game. The Blue Devils never had a multiple-possession lead as they had a two-point lead as their high-water mark so they need to improve.

The offense for South Carolina was electric throughout the four quarters of this game as the team finished shooting 31-of-54 (57.4%) from the floor, 5-of-10 (50.0%) from the 3-point line, and 14-of-19 (73.7%) from the free-throw line.

The passing was less than ideal with 14 assists compared to 16 turnovers. However, the Gamecocks controlled the paint with 48 of their 81 points coming in the painted area. South Carolina held a 25-point lead at one point in this game but the lackluster fourth quarter reduced the lead to an eventual 11-point victory.
