Haley Cavinder will reunite with her twin sister, Hanna Cavinder, in Miami for her fifth and final season. On Thursday, she announced her decision to return to the Hurricanes on social media.
While many fans welcomed the news shared on X (formerly Twitter), others expressed confusion about the return of the social media influencer to the team.
Some fans expressed their excitement about seeing the Cavinder twins play together.
"Canes are back, HVL gonna want to reconsider," a fan commented.
"Oh hell yeah!! Run it back!!!" a user chimed in.
"Oh y’all playing together. That’s great can’t wait to see," a fan commented.
However, some fans wondered about other incomplete ventures of the twins.
"Did y’all leave WWE?" a fan commented.
"So... What was the whole WWE thing for then? They said they wanted to be wrestlers. Kinda amazed people correctly called them out on this," another fan wrote.
"Aren’t you guys like benchwarmers? Not sure why you get so much hype but hope you have a good season," an X user wrote.
Haley's return news came right after it was announced that LSU's Hailey Van Lith had committed to TCU. The college hoops world was excited to see the two play alongside each other, but they will now see Haley Cavinder and Hanna Cavinder in action instead.
Why did Haley Cavinder step away from basketball?
Haley Cavinder stepped away from college basketball to pursue other business ventures. The Cavinder twins became famous entities on social media, earning lucrative endorsement deals and NIL contracts with WWE.
Haley and Hanna took some time off in the 2023–24 season to focus and train in WWE. However, the twins never made any appearances on any WWE brand.
In 2022-23, Haley Cavinder averaged 12.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Hurricanes, while her sister averaged 3.8 ppg, 1.3 rpg and 1.6 apg.
Miami missed the NCAA tournament this past season. So, fans hope the twins will help the team deliver wins.
