Azzi Fudd’s return to her hometown became a memorable night as the redshirt junior scored 21 points to lead No. 7 UConn to a 73-55 victory against Georgetown. Fudd grew up just 15 minutes from Georgetown’s campus and was in fine form on Saturday, hitting five 3-pointers and shooting 8-of-13 from the field.
Her standout performance was complemented by a viral moment involving teammate KK Arnold, who hyped her up during the game. A video shared by UConn on SNY’s Twitter page showed Arnold enthusiastically motivating Fudd. The post was captioned:
"21 points ✅ KK Arnold video ✅ A complete day for Azzi Fudd."
This sparked a wave of reactions from fans praising Arnold’s energy and support:
"KK is the best hype woman and cheerleader on this team. Love them real bad."
"Kk arnold I love u," another tweet read.
"I love seeing the Arnold effect! KK changes the game and she is becoming a scoring threat," another fan tweeted.
"Wow kk arnold," one fan posted.
"KK ARNOLD BASKETBALL IS FOREVER MY FAVORITE, " another fan tweeted.

Azzi Fudd and UConn spark comeback after Georgetown’s early lead
The game started with Georgetown gaining an eight-point lead in the first quarter. However, UConn responded with a dominant 20-6 run that bridged halftime. This surge flipped a 31-28 deficit into a 48-37 advantage by the middle of the third quarter. Fudd played a key role in the comeback, alongside Sarah Strong who contributed 16 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
Georgetown’s Khadee Hession delivered a career-best performance, scoring 22 points and shooting 6-for-8 from beyond the arc.
Despite Hession’s exceptional first-half performance, Georgetown struggled to maintain momentum. The Hoyas relied heavily on their starters, with all points coming from the starting five.
Junior guard Victoria Rivera added 10 points, while Ariel Jenkins and Kelsey Ransom combined for nine points each and 15 rebounds. The Hoyas shot 33.9% from the field compared to UConn’s 53.4%, meanwhile, the Huskies also dominated the boards, out-rebounding Georgetown 39-27.
At halftime, UConn head coach Geno Auriemma reflected on the challenges of playing on the road. Speaking to SNY, he said:
"You got to expect this, you know. That’s what happens when you get on the road, and we got to be better down the offensive end too. I don’t think we’re getting a lot of the movement that we want. So, yeah, we got a lot of work to do."
UConn has faced a series of setbacks with injuries to key players. Star guard Paige Bueckers remained sidelined after spraining her left knee in their last game against Villanova. However, Auriemma assured fans that the injury wasn’t serious, and Bueckers is expected to return soon. Additionally, Ice Brady missed the game due to illness, further testing UConn’s depth.
UConn wraps up its two-game road trip with a matchup against St. John’s in New York on Wednesday night. Georgetown, meanwhile, will look to regroup as they begin their two-game road stretch starting Tuesday night at Butler.
