Last-Tear Poa learns sign language from young fan
The LSU Lady Tigers guard recently learned some sign language from a young fan while the two were on a basketball court. In a post shared by Overtime Women's Basketball last week, a young fan taught Poa how to sign "great work" and her name. Poa and the girl then smiled at each other while Poa tried speaking in sign language.
Last-Tear Poa gained popularity because of her impressive skills on the court. As a junior, she amassed 4.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists. However, she suffered a concussion in March during the semifinals of the SEC Tournament title game against the Ole Miss Rebels last season. She was subsequently carted off the court.
Her parents then flew from Australia to support their daughter while Poa healed from her injury:
"No parent wants to see their kid on the ground, and we're halfway across the world, not able to do anything," Natasha Poa, Last-Tear's mother, said as per Nola.com.
She then made her comeback when the Lady Tigers played against the UCLA Bruins. In the first quarter, she was welcomed back with a loud roar when she checked into the game.
Poa is set to return for another season of women's college basketball with LSU next season.
