Gamecocks named USBWA Team of the Week
South Carolina was named USBWA Team of the Week, following a pair of top-10 victories to give them four against ranked opponents this season.
The Gamecocks kicked off their week with an 81-70 win over No. 9 Duke, with Chloe Kitts delivering a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double.
The team then traveled to Fort Worth to compete in the Hoopfest Women’s Basketball Classic against Hailey Van Lith and No. 12 TCU. The Gamecocks cruised to an 85-52 victory— their second 30-point win over a ranked opponent this season.
MiLaysia Fulwiley led the charge with 20 points, while three teammates also scored in double digits. South Carolina's aggressive defense forced TCU into 20 turnovers.
South Carolina has faced ranked opponents in five of its 10 games this season, achieving a 4-1 record in those matchups. The Gamecocks' remaining schedule features eight additional games against teams currently ranked in the top 25.
The No. 3 Gamecocks will be in action next against USF on Sunday, Dec. 15.
