Flau'jae Johnson is set to release her first-ever album before her junior year at LSU and has got Lil Wayne to chime in. The collaboration has been highly anticipated by fans since last year when Wayne shared that he plans to connect with Johnson.
Now, hours before the official launch of her debut album, Flau'jae Johnson increases the hype around her release by posting a brief snippet of the two singers hugging. The next two slides indicated the significance of her collaboration with Lil Wayne and the catalog of her nine-song album "Best of Both Worlds."
"BIG 4 and The Goat Dropping TONIGHTTTTTTTTTT🥺 THE WAIT IS OVER .. btw stay on that side.. it’s too late 🫡🌎🌎4️⃣4️⃣4️⃣4️⃣4️⃣4️⃣ BEST OF BOTH WORLDS TONIGHT," Johnson captioned the IG post.
The two rappers' feature will be named "Came Out a Beast" and will be dropped at the same time as Johnson’s album. Rappers NLE Choppa and 2Rare will also feature in two of her songs, "AMF" and "Karma" respectively.
After LSU ended their season in the Final Four this year, Johnson went on a writing spree on several beats from over 10 producers.
Johnson likes to do music on the side during the basketball season. With Angel Reese transitioning to the WNBA and Hailey Van Lith transferring to TCU Horned Frogs, she will be shouldering more responsibilities for her squad than ever. Behind that, she plans to fine-tune and re-record 40 songs throughout the next year.
Lil Wayne's feature with Flau'jae Johnson was assisted by Sue Bird
As Flau'jae Johnson battled on the court for LSU’s NCAA championship during the 2022-23 season, WNBA legend Sue Bird was speaking with Lil Wayne on ESPN's alt-cast. Bird joking asked the rapper about the possible timeline of a collaboration with Johnson, sparking the possibility of the duet.
"The craziest part of how this whole Lil Wayne collaboration came about was Sue Bird. The fact that she’s a basketball legend and she threw me the alley-oop for Wayne to do the verse,” Flau'Jae Johnson said while speaking on Women’s Sports House earlier this month.
Wayne’s features mark one of the highest points in Flau’jae Johnson’s musical career and opens avenues for more high-profile rappers and artists to join in.
